To cover the oceans with a new generation of floating nuclear power plants?

If we're going to go with massive floating power generation, why would you do nuclear rather than solar? I'm dubious about either being a good idea, but surely solar would be a help of lot less difficult and with less extreme risks if something goes wrong. Still suspect cutting off large chunks of the ocean from sunlight might *somehow* come back to bite us ecologically!
